Remedial Massage
Remedial Massage or Soft Tissue Therapy is the systematic assessment and treatment of the muscles, tendons, ligaments and connective tissues of the body to assist in rehabilitation, pain and injury management.
This is designed to balance muscle/soft tissue length, tension and tone which will in turn promote the return to normal joint/capsular/bone position; increase the flow of blood and lymph, particularly in the injured areas, thus removing blockages, damaged cells, scar tissue and adhesion’s resulting from injury.
Dry Needling
Dry needling is a skilled intervention that uses a thin filiform needle to penetrate the skin and stimulate underlying myofascial trigger points, muscular, and connective tissues for the management of neuromusculoskeletal pain and movement impairments. Dry needling is a technique used to treat dysfunctions in skeletal muscle, fascia, and connective tissue, and, diminish persistent peripheral nociceptive input, and reduce or restore impairments of body structure and function leading to improved activity and participation
Dry needling can provide relief for muscular pain and stiffness. Easing the trigger points may improve flexibility and increase range of motion. It is often used to treat sports injuries, muscle pain, and movement restrictions.
Cupping
Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a therapist puts special cups on your skin for a few minutes to create suction. People get it for many purposes, including to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and well-being, and as a type of deep-tissue masssage.
Cupping Therapy softens tight muscles, tones attachments, loosens adhesions and lifts connective tissue by creating suction and negative pressure through the use of cups.
Myofascial Cupping can help treat soft tissue conditions and musculoskeletal tension, pain, and common sporting injuries. It can also create relaxation through stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system.
IASTM – Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization
Instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) is a manual therapy treatment technique that utilizes specially designed stainless steel instruments to assist in detecting and treating areas exhibiting scar tissue, soft tissue restriction, adhesions or chronic inflammation.
Rocktape
RockTape’s unique elasticity causes the skin to form convolutions and wrinkle. This decompresses the tissue immediately below the skin. It is believed that this has three main effects:
- Fluid effect- improving blood and lymphatic flow in the taped area
- Mechanical effect- improving the slide and glide between tissue layers
- Neurological effect- altering the perception of pain and improving body awareness.
